Great fresh (not frozen) burger selection and great apps too. My wife had the veggie burger and said it was great. The onion rings are massive!! Definitely a great find and we plan to come back next time we're in the area.

Great little place for a really good burger. Not busy at all and great service. The onion rings are the size of fedoras! Had the Philly cheeseburger and the meat was nice and juicy and the grilled onions and peppers were perfect. Definitely coming here again.

Great burgers and fries. If you aren't looking for a pricey night out, this is a great spot. RC burger with chili, jalapeños, mushrooms, cheese etc etc was excellent. No frozen beef here. Give it a try (food is wayyyyy better than their neighbor...Dick's)

We had seen enough of this place that it was time to try it. With the location at Barefoot Landing, it also gave us a chance to "walk it off" after dinner. After a little wait (plenty to look at while you're waiting - old license plates, graffiti, etc.), we were seated. The family (as well as myself) had fun drawing on the paper "tablecloth" while we waited for our food to be prepared. I ordered my baseline burger - a mushroom & swiss. It was good - no complaints, though my medium-rare order was more medium - a good sign that the burgers were frozen at one time. My wife got the heralded onion rings. And, as advertised, they were HUGE. She got two. And order of TWO. Seemed a little slight, but yeah, they were big... The kids got chicken tenders, which was a massive order. Good bang for the buck there. The service was very good - all the staff were friendly and willing to make our experience enjoyable. After all the hype, it really didn't stand above other burger places. Better than McDonalds? Of course it was. Now, I confess, there were some burger creations passing by our table on the way to other customers that looked amazing (like a foot-high burger stack...). If/when I visit again, I'll be getting one of THOSE! In the meantime, we filled our bellies with some tasty edibles. Mission accomplished.

Food was good, the part that we received. Out of our group of ten, only four received burgers after waiting over an hour. we never received the rest of it because the other half of our ticket was somehow lost. I understand the kitchen having a bad night once in a while, but waiting over an hour and somehow losing the other half of our ticket is unacceptable. It's a shame to, because the I got burger was good. The waitress did a good job with the situation.

The absolute best place for wings in all of Myrtle Beach. It's a Dive atmosphere with friendly service. It's the place that has license plate tags on the walls and peanut shells on the floor. Don't let this turn you away. It's a must do every trip to the beach. The Mild Wings are superb. I don't know how they make them and I don't care. I just hope they stay the same forever. I love spicy food and the Mild Wings aren't super spicy but, they're perfect and they're not drowning in sauce. All of the food is good and there's a nice view from the deck on the back.

Once again the food at River City is always great and worth coming back for. However tonight our server Ebony did not seem to be happy we were there. We had to flag her down for refills a couple times. When my mom asked for a lemon she rolled her eyes. When my wife asked for a box Ebony rolled her eyes again. I hate that our server was such a disappointment tonight we love to eat at River City but tonight it was kind of a let down. Maybe all about the burgers should spend a little time on the service.

Seriously not a good meal. After waiting 40 minutes for burgers mine wAs so burnt it was inedible , my wife's was fine, the server was attentive but combined wait and nasty burger 2 stars seems almost to much. No pride in the food served, manger did comp my meal, as if I ate it, but it should have never left the kitchen.

Excellent food and service, bit of a wait but well worth it if you are a burger junkie!! Highly recommend the OMG burger, it's a monster, double burger with two fried eggs and the buns are 2 grilled cheese sandwiches!! AMAZING!!

Been to their other two locations in MB. The food and service is just as good, but the atmosphere is not as fun in my opinion. Great location inside of Barefoot landing, but not a lot of outdoor seating. Tried the sweet potato waffle fries and a new burger (personally), the One with Doritos on it. AMAZING. Hubby got the Palmetto Cheeseburger (pimento cheese) which was utterly fantastic as well. Love the chain, but would probably return to one of their other locations instead.

If you like burgers you have to give this place a try. We had heard about this place from some locals and was a little skeptical since it is in a tourist shopping area but we were very pleasantly surprised. The fries and onion rings were clearly fresh cut and the burgers were humongous. They use fresh beef to make the burger patty and there is no comparison to a frozen patty burger. The onion rings alone are worth a trip to this restaurant. Service was great!

  • Ryan C.

Burger was good but you have to be willing to get past the dirty floors, dirty tables and okay service. Side dishes were generic and nothing to shout about. Bottled beer and a few mixed drinks. Perhaps after pounding a few the atmosphere grows on you, but sober it is a dive at best.

Was looking for a place to get a delicious burger with my boys. Lots of good choices and we split a blooming onion and fries. The onion was so big I brought over half back to the girls who were on the beach. Fries looked like they would be really good when cooked properly. Ours were a bit floppy.

  • Kim P.

Husband's burger and onion rings were great. He hated the coleslaw and my veggie burger was mushy which is something I dont like. However I liked the environment and our server was great! If they changed the veggie burger or added other vegetarian options I'd try again.

Very mixed feelings about this place. We were there for an early dinner, but I didn't expect to be the only ones in the place. But after a bit I began to see & smell why. The wall graffiti makes the place look dirty. And while I've been to many restaurants on river, this was the worst-smelling. Whether this was the river's fault I cannot tell. There is a play area of sorts for kids. It, like the whole place, looks in need of a thorough cleaning. All that said... my burger was AMAZING. I can't tell if it wants to be a bar or restaurant, but these burgers need to remain part of equation. However, when we were done eating, I couldn't get us back to hotel fast enough to get the kids in a bath.

Great selection of burgers. Relaxed, casual atmosphere. Service was good. Peanuts available while you wait. Back deck seating was nice. The Nacho Crunch Burger was good, wish it had more guacamole and was a little spicier. My son had the blackened mahi sandwich and said it was delicious. All six in our party were happy with their meal!

  • Bob M.

The place is a cool dive sort of atmosphere, not really a clean place if that's important to you but that's not the atmosphere they are presenting. Its a peanuts on the floor, license plates on the wall with graffiti all over type of place. We love the burgers and for me it's always been the classic or the black and blue. Great fries too! We come to this area annually for a marriage retreat and always make it a point to stop here!

Great grilled chicken sandwich and cheese fries. Would go back for the food. The service could definitely use improvement.

Excellent burgers and appetizers Nacho burger highly recommended. Great service, friendly staff and the play area made the whole experience wonderful for the whole family! Thanks Matt! We will be back. Don't forget your sharpies you can draw on everything!!!

Went to the location on 21st ave and it was awesome. Same goes for here. If you want a great burger, you should definitely check this place out. Really nice staff at both locations I visited. Whenever I come back to visit, I will be going here first. Possibly multiple times. :) The nacho crunch and RC burgers are too good. And try the onion rings. You won't be disappointed.

Fun atmosphere and great food! Love the peanuts on the ground and license plates all over the restaurant!

Awesome burger and great service. I had the continental burger (fried egg and bacon), wife had the house cheeseburger, girls shared a cheese burger platter. We also shared a onion ring basket. Everything was great. We will definitely come here when we return to myrtle beach.

Had a good dining experience with our group of 6. Seated outside with great views, our server was attentive, the food arrived in a timely manner, portions were generous. One order was incorrect and was (somewhat) addressed but overall a good experience.

We had a good meal here! We were just looking for a cheap and fast dinner one night and found it here. It was not too busy and our service was good. We got piña coladas, which were pretty decent and cheap for the quality. We also helped ourselves to the peanuts, which are plentiful and you throw the shellings on the floor. Not a place for people with peanut allergies!! I ordered a grilled cheese with a combo plate (cole slaw and fries, I opted for the sweet potato waffle fries). It was darned good! The bread wasn't all dry and tasteless like a lot of grilled cheeses. The fries and cole slaw were both delicious. My dad and husband got burgers that came with a fried egg on it, and enjoyed them immensely. I'd come back!

Went tonight and first impression was a typical beach town cafe. But I got much more than that, our server Matt was attentive and made it fun. The fried grouper platter was delicious and plentiful. This place would be a regular place I'd go.

Best burgers on highway 17! You get a lot of bang for your buck. They have so many choices of burgers there is something perfect for everyone. Chicken fingers are yummy. There are also healthy choices for those looking to not clog their arteries. You can also sit out side and watch the boats go by. This is a must try!

  • Chris R.

Pretty disappointing. We had heard great things about this place, and were so excited to try it. Really liked the atmosphere and casual vibe, and the menu is impressively built on the burger. Unfortunately, even on the non-crowded evening we went for dinner, River City seemed unable to handle our large party of 10. While our few appetizers (paltry order of fries with gravy, and over-salted clam chowder) came out quickly, we waited nearly 1/2 hour for our burgers. Not for fresh fish cooked to order; not for just-prepared sauce; for burgers. The three burgers our party had ordered rare came out first. Mine was medium rare at best; the other 2 were medium. My son's bacon cheeseburger had no bacon, and my other son's kids' meal had stale Doritos. The burgers were ok. Average. Definitely not up to the hype, and considering our overall disappointment, not worth coming back to try again. If this place is "all about the burger," as they proclaim, then they should make it so.

Best Hamburgers on the Beach!!!! The Ruben was great too! We will definitely be back! No wonder the locals and visitors rave about this place. It's worth coming back to!

If you like burgers this place was very good. They are hand patties which makes the burger taste much better. Their onion rings are huge and also taste very good. Great little place to eat.

Great location at Barefoot landing. Make sure to sit on the back porch to see the sunset and boats roll in. Their burgers are excellent. Big meat portions and great ideas. Their onion rings are huge!m good breading. Drinks are small for what you pay

  • Ellen L.

What a huge disappointment. Best burgers on the beach - I think not! Not even close. All 4 of our burgers were overdone and tough. Unbelieveable considering that's pretty much all that's on the menu. Do not waste your time or money here. The service, however, was very good. Unfortunately that won't save this restaurant.

This is a great little hole in the wall at Barefoot landing! They have peanuts that you can throw the shells on the floor while you are enjoying your beer. Staff was very friendly and attentive! I got the onion rings and the mild chicken wings with blue cheese dressing. My husband got the mushroom and Swiss burger. The food was delicious! The onion rings were the best I had ever had and they were huge! I shared them with everyone and still had a a lot to eat. The wings were perfect they were not over cooked and very flavorful. My husbands burger was good and big. We would definitely go back for more!

Great food and service! Had the 3-Alarm burger and found a new best friend! Plenty of choices for burgers as well. Quick and friendly service always good with a great burger! When you visit MB you must stop by River City Cafe! You will not be disappointed!

We were in the mood for a good burger, so after reading Yelp reviews, we headed to Barefoot Landing's River City Cafe. The menu does not disappoint- lots of burgers, fries, etc. and other options. While you wait, there are free peanuts in the shell, butcher paper on the tables, and crayons for drawing on the walls, chairs and more. Entertaining the kids was a breeze. The wait staff was just so-so, but the food was good and portions are large. We would go back.

  • Jeremy R.

Everything is very good here. The food was very fresh and burger tasted excellent. Fries have a really good flavor. I do like the coleslaw they serve, it is a little dry, but all in all it does taste good. I like this location because of its location - being located right on the Intercoastal Waterway. It's a lot of fun to grab a burger and watch the boats go by. For the amount of great quality food you get, you can't go wrong at River City Cafe!

  • Rob D.

Appearances are deceiving. Second year in a row we have come here while on vacation. The place is covered in guests handwriting and license plates from all over the country. It is a very laid back atmosphere. The burgers are great and the portions are huge. A great meal in an interesting place.

  • Anna S.

Great burgers and fries. Hand Cut and homemade fries are always the best. We got the Texas BBQ Burger and the Nacho Crunch Turkey Burger. Both were full of flavor! My kids ordered the Cheeseburger and Hotdog. The kids burger was big! they ate everything. You also get to eat dry roasted peanuts while you wait. I'm only giving it 4 out of 5 stars cause the music that was on was not appropriate for kids. There was some cursing.

Always great burgers & fries. Be sure to upgrade your burger with their fantastic pretzel buns. Very cool place to eat, graffiti all over, old license plates, very good family atmosphere. Always fast & friendly service.

I was dying for a burger after having seafood all week on my trip to MB. My friend had suggested this place and I'm so glad she did! They had a little play area for the kids which was great for my son. There are peanuts on the floor, so be warned if your child or if you have an allergy. I ordered the Shoestring Burger topped with shoestring onion rings, spicy petal sauce, onions, tomato and lettuce. What a yummy combination! The fries were yummy too. Got some extra sauce for my burger and fries. :) Delish! Fun place to have dinner. Service was good too. Decor wise some folks may be turned off, there thing is to have people sign their names on everything, including the kids play area, which in my opinion should've been left alone. But regardless good food at good prices!

Just ate here last week for 1st time. Hadn't been to MB since I was a teenager. I'd looked on Yelp to find some good spots to eat & had noted another location of RCC as one to try. We ended up at this one at Barefoot Landing. Ate on the deck so the kids could look at the water, birds and boats. We started with the bacon cheese fries - what's not to love about that combo, right? They were quite good & gone in about 3 minutes :-0 I had the TX BBQ burger - yum! Really good burger. I don't know if it was any one topping that really did it for me - just overall goodness. Hubby had the CA pizza burger - also yum! That one has a large *slab* of fried mozzerella cheese on top in addition to the marinara sauce & pepperoni slices. Helllooo. He would definitely get his again & I'd for sure order mine. I'm a big fan of just about any burger that comes with fried onion straws. Our server was nice & kept our drinks filled. We were almost the only people eating on the deck, so he could have easily overlooked us. But he checked back often, without ever being annoying about it. Handled our payment quickly & was nice. Not sure how this location compares to the original one, but we'd definitely eat here again next time we're in MB. The 10% discount we got was a nice plus. Yes, this place can very much be considered a dive, but I'm cool with that.

We go here every time we come to MB. The burgers are fantastic! Its a nice break from seafood (and seafood prices). We've ended up here at the later end of dinner (8pm) and have never had to wait for a table. For the past several visits, my husband has gotten the fish sandwich, oyster po-boy and a chicken sandwich. Each time I always get a burger and love it. I've had the guacamole burger and bacon cheeseburger. We went here a few nights ago and both got burgers. He's finally sold I the burgers! Their hamburger is fresh, not frozen which makes a big difference in the burger. This time I got the patty melt. It was great! Served on buttery, perfectly grilled rye bread with Swiss and grilled onions. Fantastic. My husband got a Reuben burger, which was very similar, but add thousand island dressing and sauerkraut. He loved it! Kids' menu is standard, with something for any palate. What they lack in creativity on the kids' menu they make up for in distractions. They can color on the paper table cover and the walls! The French fries are boardwalk style fries ( my husband's favorite). Even with the thin crowd, fries were hot and delicious ( not sitting around). Service was attentive and drinks filled as needed. If you're looking for a good burger at MB, I don't think you'll find a better place.

Awesome service and food. Better come hungry! Had the blooming onion and boneless wings to start. Food was fresh and hot. Matt, our waiter, was awesome. Came by with an assortment of dips. All were great and true Avocado ranch was to die for. We never had an empty cup! I am not a burger person at all. Not one of my favorite things. However there is a huge assortment of burgers available for everyone's liking. I went with three men with bottomless stomachs and they couldn't finish their portions. All loved their meals! They had the Texas BBQ, Mac-n-Cheese and a grilled onion and cheeseburger. I had the Nacho Crunch and had to leave half of it. OMG best burger I ever had! Juicy, hot and flavorful. Your drink cup is a souvenir cup for you to keep. Our cups were given a final refill and cover to go. Even more fun was that we were able to leave our 'tags' behind - kids loved that! Bring a sharpie if you can. Awesome and fun. Shout out to our awesome waiter - Matt! Totally recommend.

Awesome burgers. I usually don't go for gourmet burgers sticking mainly with your traditional burger (lettuce, tomato, mustard ketchup etc), but this time I decided to try the reuben burger. It was great! Fries were hand cut and cooked well. Overall great experience.

  • Benjamin J.

Very good burgers. Big selection of burgers. Very kid friendly. The kids really enjoyed being able to vandalize basically the entire place. The fries were fresh cut and delicious. Kids also loved breaking open peanuts and throwing the shells all over the floor. We come to Myrtle every year and we always come back to this place. Would love to open one of these in Ohio.

I didnt' realize this place was a chain until I tried to find the right location to Yelp about. This location is at Barefoot Landing. If you are looking for a good/decent burger place, then you found it. The place seems like a nice local hangout with free peanuts to shell on the floor, license plates from all over decorating their walls and they allow you to graffitti the walls and about anything else (sort of a like Ginos East wannabe). They have a nice outside deck with views of the river The menu is mostly burgers, fries and onion rings, and a smattering of other sandwiches. And they have chicken and turkery burgers for those that dislike cows. Their showcase items are burgers and they do those well. They had a strange selection of burgers to choose from including a S'Mores Burger??? I went for the traditional cheddar burger and was pleased at the toppings quality and taste. The fries were good too, sort of like those at a Steak Escape company or at a county fair. The beer selection is pretty limited and nothing on draft (at this location at least), but they did carry Yuengling, so that was good.

  • Jessica S.

The food here was greasy. They have a wide assortment of burgers and other things, including vegetarian options, on the menu. The waitress/hostess who took our drink order didn't seem too enthused to be there. Drinks come in plastic cups that you can take with you. The waiter who took care of us the rest of the time was better. We ordered a bloomin' onion for an appetizer which was pretty good, had a little kick, but greasy. My mom ordered the patty melt which she said was good. She also ordered some onion rings which weren't bad. I had the Reuben burger, but it was too greasy for me to even finish half of it. I also got the fries which were the saving grace. They seemed to be hand cut and seasoned well. Dad got the cheeseburger which he said was average and greasy. My sister ordered the BBQ sandwich and complained that it was too spicy, but she's somewhat sensitive to spice. So, don't take that too seriously. All in all it wasn't bad, but we've had better and wouldn't be likely to revisit if we were in the area again.
